About Second Order

Second Order is a daily brief for people who live in the UAE. It reads the Gulf press and keeps the few items that change a resident's money, residency, travel or safety.

The name is the method. The first-order news is the headline. The second-order news is what the headline changes for you, and it is the part most reports leave out.

What an item looks like

Every item has the same order: what happened, in one sentence; what it means, when the fact does not already say it; and, on a few items, something to do or to check. Each item links to the page it was taken from and names its publisher.

Laws, regulations and geopolitics appear only through what they change for a resident. The brief takes no side and offers no opinion.

Who makes it

Second Order was founded and is run by Oleksii Zaitsev. The brief itself is written, checked and translated by AI. How it is made says exactly how, and what that means for how far to rely on it.

Second Order is a non-commercial project. It carries no ads, no sponsored items and no affiliate or referral links, and it takes no donations.
