US says it controls Hormuz, citing 40-plus ships in 24 hours
Shipping & Supply Strait of Hormuz
The US military said on 15 October that the US and its regional partners control the Strait of Hormuz. It cited more than 40 commercial ships passing through in the previous 24 hours.
What it means: The Joint Maritime Information Center counted 121 passages with US support from 11 to 14 October, about 30 a day. That is about 22% of the prewar benchmark of roughly 138 a day in 2025. The US count covers a different 24-hour period and may point to a rise in traffic.
